Unrealistic Job Requirements

It has been a year since I noticed how online job postings have become incredibly unrealistic.  Today, I will look back in a random site, which may contain a fairy-tale-like prerequisite prior to interview.  Don’t be surprised if the job requirement is extremely difficult to achieve that it may very well be a myth.

Job Description
Job Summary
The Cashier will accurately and efficiently tender sales transactions as per policies and procedures. He\She will provide exemplary customer service in a clean and safe work environment.

This sounds reasonable, but wait, let's read more...

Job Responsibilities
§ Tender sales transactions accurately, following company procedures and policies: scanning, bagging, and deactivating all merchandise.
§ Acknowledge, greet, and thank all customers. Help locate merchandise or a knowledgeable salesperson.
§ Maintain a clean, safe, and inviting front end, front facing, sweeping and corralling carts; department returns.
§ Answer phones (within three rings) and accurately transfer calls or take messages.
§ Ensure necessary supplies are on hand daily.
§ Stocking of merchandise to designated areas (as needed).
§ Other duties as assigned.

Now, why must they complicate a job that is not that difficult?

Experience
§ Previous cash register experience preferred
§ Retail experience in a home improvement environment preferred
§ Completion of NAT Cashier Program

What in the world is NAT Cashier Program?  It’s like they speak a language intended for people who work sears only.  Operating a cash register is not that hard.  Why make it complicated?

Other
§ Leadership Principles
- Customer Focus
- Change Management
- Drive for Results
- Teamwork
- Performance Management
- Diversity/Inclusiveness
§ Reliable and consistent attendance.
§ Ability to respond positively to supervision and criticism.
§ Ability to read and understand written communications or instructions.
§ Ability to work harmoniously and productively with others.
§ Ability to work in stressful situations with the public and management.
§ Ability and skills to understand computerized functions.
§ Ability and flexibility to respond to a variety of work assignments.

Leadership skills and qualities may only be found from people who studied management.  Why must they require management skills in a low-life cashier job?

This is a proof that job requirements can be overwhelming for job seekers.  The conditions for employment are quite unrealistic.  They are asking for someone who does not really exist, a superman, a mythical being with superb powers and abilities.

Oh, please!
